Au moment où la Commission Européenne dévoile les différents plans d’actions qui composent son Green Deal, le numérique est au coeur des attentions aussi bien grâce à son potentiel en tant que levier de la transition que du fait de son empreinte environnementale.
Les apports des technologies numériques dans notre vie quotidienne sont en effet multiples et révolutionnent nombres de nos comportements et habitudes. L’expansion du numérique et sa transversalité à tous les secteurs posent néanmoins la question de l’augmentation de son impact environnemental à mettre en perspective avec les gains qu’il permet toutefois.

Dans ce contexte, l’AFNUM défend la nécessité d’objectiver les chiffres (y compris en termes de gains apportés par le numérique aux autres secteurs) et de disposer d’un état des lieux clair et exhaustif des réglementations et initiatives en place, pour focaliser les efforts sur les actions pertinentes, et notamment en termes d’usages.
Très impliquée dans les différents travaux et chantiers en cours (loi anti-gaspillage pour une économie circulaire, travaux de l’ADEME, travaux de l’ARCEP, feuille de route du CNNUM (Conseil National du Numérique), mission d’information au Sénat sur l’empreinte environnementale du numérique…) l’AFNUM a rassemblé ses messages transverses et recommandations dans un document de 8 pages téléchargeable ci-dessous.
